Pre-Requisite

Before begin to create your Novus Zodiac Weapons, you must have completed your Animus Zodiac Weapon. Through the course of the quest you will need:

• 3 Superior Enchanted Ink or at least 75 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics.
• Access to the Duty Roulette: Level 50/60/70 Dungeons.
• The Decipher and Dig skills from Treasure Hunting.

This can be obtained from the quest Treasures and Tribulations from H'loonh in Wineport, Eastern La Noscea (x21, y21).

• Possession of, or substantial Gil for, a large amount of materia.

Main Weapon Quest

Celestial Radiance

Starting NPC:	Jalzahn
Starting Location:	Hyrstmill, North Shroud (x30,y19)
Speak with Jalzahn in Hyrstmill (x30,y19) with your Animus Zodiac Weapon equipped. He will explain that it may be possible for your weapon to become stronger with materia but that conventional melding will not work due to the preclusive presence of soul energy. Travel to Mutamix Bubblypots in The Bonfire (x23,y13). Speak with Mutamix Bubblypots's new disciple Hubairtin in The Bonfire (x23,y13). His new technique involves converting the power of materia into a form of light energy. But for Hubairtin to apply the technique he needs some Superior Enchanted Ink. Travel to Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona and speak to Rowena (x21,y5), she will tell you to go to Auriana (x22,y6) to purchase three bottles of Superior Enchanted Ink for 25 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics each ( 75 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics in total). Return to Hubairtin and hand over the bottles of Superior Enchanted Ink and he will create a Sphere Scroll for your Animus Zodiac Weapon - which will serve as the blueprint for your Novus Zodiac Weapon.

An example of a completed Thyrus Novus Sphere Scroll Melding materia onto a Thyrus Novus Sphere Scroll Jalzahn will then explain the task of building your Novus Zodiac Weapon using your Sphere Scroll. Unlike all other weapon or equipment in Eorzea you have the freedom to customs the secondary stats of your Novus Zodiac Weapon as you like. You need to successfully bind a total of 75 materia to complete your Sphere Scroll in order to create your weapon. Each materia requires a special reagent called Alexandrite. After speaking to Jalzahn, the quest will move to your "completed quest log". Once you have completed your scroll, return to Jalzahn who will finalise and create your new Novus Zodiac Weapon. Materia The materia you bind directly affects the stat that is increased: Stat Materia Direct Hit Rate Heaven's Eye Materia Skill Speed Quickarm Materia Critical Hit Rate Savage Aim Materia Piety Piety Materia Determination Savage Might Materia Spell Speed Quicktongue Materia Tenacity Battledance Materia Notes: Each successful meld infuses the stat of materia into the scroll, granting the it 1 point in the corresponding stat. You can only fuse materia of higher grades after completing a previous "tier", for stats that have a max of 44, a tier is 11 materia, the first 6 in the tier have a 100% chance of melding, followed by a 96% chance, 90% chance, 82% chance, 72% chance, and finally, a 60% chance. At the start only level 1 materias can be used. As more of a particular stats / materia are added: the binding success rate decrease until you are forced to use a higher grade / level materia. Unsuccessful bindings will destroy the materia used but never the Alexandrite. There is a cap on the maximum points you can put in a secondary stat and depends on your class. The scroll can be infused with a maximum of five different secondary stats. Your Novus Zodiac Weapon will only have the secondary stats that you put onto it - no secondary stats are transferred across from your Animus Zodiac Weapon. The only exception to this are with the healer's weapons Omnilex Novus and Thyrus Novus which get +9 Accuracy regardless. Alexandrite See also: Mysterious Map Alexandrite is a special reagent used to convert and bind the materia to the Sphere Scroll. They can be gathered in three ways: Completing FATEs with a Animus Zodiac Weapon equipped (as before). Can be bought from a Hunt Billmaster in either Ul'dah, Gridania or Limsa Lominsa for Allied Seals 50 Allied Seals. From treasure chests from Mysterious Maps. Mysterious Maps can be obtained through: The daily quest Morbid Motivation which requires you to complete a Duty Roulette: Level 50/60/70 Dungeons. Can be bought from Auriana in Revenant's Toll for 75 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics. Mysterious Maps are similar to normal Timeworn Maps and requires the use of Decipher and Dig skills from Treasure Hunting. These can be obtained from the quest Treasures and Tribulations from H'loonh in Wineport, Eastern La Noscea (x21, y21). You will need to decipher the map, and travel to the location shown in the map before diging to find a treasure chest. Upon opening a treasure chest, the mysterious map will be destroyed and monsters will spawn. You will need to kill all the monsters before you can open the chest. Notes: Alexandrite will drop randomly from any FATE completed with at least a Gold Rating. You must be equipped with a Animus Zodiac Weapon in order to get Alexandrite from FATEs; however this can be any Animus Zodiac Weapon / job. You do not need to equip your Animus Zodiac Weapon whilst completing Mysterious Maps. Players can complete the Mysterious Map with the help of a party but only the owner of the map will receive the Alexandrite. Rest of the party members will get some gil. Since patch 3.0, Mysterious Maps can yield up to 5 pieces of Alexandrite per map. Bystanders that are not in your party cannot attack the Mysterious Map monsters - but healers are still able to heal you. Alexandrite go into your normal inventory rather than your Key Item inventory. Make sure you have free space in your inventory. A Chocobo Companion can be used to make the battle easier. Allied Seals can be obtained by partaking in The Hunt ,killing Elite Mark targets, or by participating in various Blue Mage activities, including The Masked Carnivale and the Blue Mage Log, both of which offer large amounts of weekly seals.

Novus Zodiac Weapons Stat Caps

With the exception of Paladin's Curtana Novus and Holy Shield Novus, each weapon can have a maximum of 75 secondary stat points added. The maximum for the Curtana Novus is 50 points and the Holy Shield Novus is 25 points. The weapons 5 main stats (Vitality, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Mind) upgrade automatically. The Omnilex Novus and Thyrus Novus will receive a base +9 accuracy automatically. Each secondary stat has its own cap which varies between stat and weapon / class. The table are the caps for each weapon with the level and number of materias required below the cap.

Altering Weapon Stats

Players can alter their stats after finishing the Novus Zodiac Weapon:

1. Obtain a new Sphere Scroll for your desired weapon.
2. Speak with Jalzahn in Hyrstmill (x29,y19) with your Novus Zodiac Weapon equipped and select the option "Weapon Novus Modification" and Jalzahn will transfer all all your current Weapon Novus stats to the clean scroll and make it full with 75 melds.
3. Speak to Hubairtin in The Bonfire (x23,y13) for materia removal. He will remove 1 point of chosen stat per action from the Sphere Scroll.
4. Proceed as normal with materia and alexandrite to make your new melds.

Upgrade To Nexus Zodiac Weapons
