Bicolor Gemstone was introduced in Shadowbringers as the currency for the Shared FATE system. They can be used to purchase a variety of items from Gemstone Traders. As of patch 7.0, players may hold a maximum of 1,500 gemstones at once.
Acquisition
Each FATE completed with a Gold Medal rating will reward 16 Bicolor Gemstones in the Dawntrail zones, 14 Bicolor Gemstones in the Endwalker zones and 12 Bicolor Gemstones in the Shadowbringers zones.
They drop in greater quantities from rare, large-scale boss FATEs, including 100 from The Serpentlord Seethes and Mascot Murder, 86 from Devout Pilgrims vs. Daivadipa and Omicron Recall: Killing Order, and 72 from A Finale Most Formidable and The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damned Thing.
As of 7.0, FATE experience bonuses will be applied to all areas that drop Bicolor Gemstones as well:
- A Forlorn Maiden increases the amount to 125% (20 in 7.0 areas).
- The Twist of FATE buff increases the amount to 150% (24 in 7.0 areas).
- An up-arrow (EXP Bonus) FATE increases the amount to 200% (32 in 7.0 areas).
- The Twist of FATE buff from The Forlorn (a rare version of the enemy) increases the amount to 250% (40 in 7.0 areas).
These can be combined in various ways:
- Killing a Forlorn Maiden with the Twist of FATE buff increases the amount to 175% (28 in 7.0 areas).
- The Twist of FATE buff consumed on an EXP bonus FATE increases the amount to 250% (40 in 7.0 areas).
- The Twist of FATE buff consumed on an EXP bonus FATE where a Forlorn Maiden was killed increases the amount to 275% (44 in 7.0 areas).
- The Twist of FATE buff from The Forlorn consumed on an EXP bonus FATE increases the amount to 500% (80 in 7.0 areas).
- Other combinations could be had involving The Forlorn instead of Forlorn Maiden, but it's very rare for it to appear in the first place.
However, as the increase isn't multiplicative, receiving these increases separately wouldn't make a difference, except when using Twist of FATE on a rare, large-scale boss.
