Raised in a farming village on the outskirts of Bozja, Jareck aan Natasch is but one of many imperial subjects who were drafted to extract ceruleum during the Empire's heyday.
Upon reaching his eighteenth summer, the Hrothgar was forcibly taken to Garlemald to learn the trade. And learn he did, for few can claim the detailed knowledge and experience with ceruleum engineering he commands after twenty-five years in the north. However, such talents were of no use in his village, and so after Garlemald's collapse he chose to remain in Tapper's Den among the friends he had made over the years. There he carries on much as he did before, working to survive and playing Trinity—a game where one forms hands of three cards—to pass the time. With the fallen empire's grip loosening over their territories, Jareck's story is not uncommon, and many like him have chosen to make the best of the lives they have eked out in lands far from home.
