Even if you a bold and mighty warrior, and like nothing less than blunt weapon and heavy armor, and your favorite craft is a forging, do not ignore this profession. Working with a thin and soft materia and usage of small and fragile instruments will teach you to be accurate and careful. And this knowledge will be very useful in every kind of craft.

Because of leveling of all crafting specialties are similar, all the common descriptions about this are accumulated in page The Way of crafting.

Weaver is a very useful class because of wide assortment of products he can make. Beside of light combat outfit for pugilists and clothes for mages, weaver also makes most all outfit for all disciples of hand and land. And this is a first reason to take this class: HQ working outfit will help you to gain better results in others kinds of crafting.

Weaver's specific actions

Careful Synthesis

The first specific weaver's action (and one of the most useful cross-class actions for all other DoH classes) is acquired at 15th level. This is a Steady Hand - action, like a Basic Synthesis, but it has 100% success rate at the cost of 10% lesser efficiency. At first look may seems that overall efficiency of both actions is the same, because of 90% of successful attempts is equal to 90% efficiency, but such plain comparison isn't right. Let's see:

  1. When Careful Synthesis is absolutely more effective: If you can complete synthesis on more than 111% for 1-9 steps using a Basic Synthesis, then you can complete it on 100%+ for the same number of steps using a Careful Synthesis. For example, you can synthesise some item on 28% for 1 step using a Basic Synthesis, then progress for Careful Synthesis will be 25.2%. So in both cases you'll need the same 4 steps to complete synthesis, but in second one you'll need not to reserve extra step, or spend CP to insure against failure.
  2. When Careful Synthesis may improve efficiency: If the amount of progress made with Careful Synthesis is not enough, you may calculate how minimum number of steps of Basic Synthesis you need instead of Careful Synthesis, and use Steady Hand effectively. For example: progress from Basic Synthesis is 27%, and from Careful Synthesis is 24.3%. So you need spend extra 22CP to use Steady Hand for Basic Synthesis 4 times, or take away 1 step from quality increasing to Careful Synthesis. But in this case more effective may be to use Basic Synthesis only 2 times and save 2 steps for increasing of quality while Steady Hand is active. At other 2 steps use Careful Synthesis.
  3. When it is may not be effective: For example, if you synthesises some item with high difficulty. Maximum number of crafting steps which you may get is 10 (70 pts of initial durability + 30 pts restored) and you need spend e.g. 7 steps for Basic Synthesis. Of course it seems better to use Steady Hand twice, which means that Careful Synthesis will not be useful.

So it is recommended to set this action into cross-class cells for all DoH classes, which you posses.

"90% success rate" means that you may craft a lot of items without any troubles, but while crafting of the next one, the most of performed actions may fails. And from practical experience, there is a not so small probability of situation, when 1 reserve step will may be not enough.
