The Ruby Princess

The Ruby Princess is a monarchal figure who serves as ruler of Sui-no-Sato, the Raen settlement found beneath the waves of The Ruby Sea. Like her people, who remain sequestered from the outside world, the princess is said to never leave her palace of Shisui of the Violet Tides, and traditionally sends servants such as her High Priest or Handmaidens to represent her will to the people. Regardless, it's an incredibly rare occurrence for any member of the royal family to leave the palace, and as a result, most inhabitants of Sui-no-sato have never met the princess in person.

History
Not much is known about the factual origins of the Ruby Princess or how she came to rule the people of Sui-no-Sato, as most stories in the culture are passed down orally.[1] Local legends from Kugane and the village of Onokoro however, have a popular faerie tale wherein a Hyuran fisherman and an Auri princess were brought together by a Kojin and wed in a palace under the sea.[2] Rumors from members of the royal household suggest that this legend is partially true, and generations back a marriage between a Ruby Princess and a Hyuran man produced a son that was said to have had almost no scales.[3]
