Ephemeral Nodes

Collectable items gathered from Ephemeral Nodes are used for   Aetherial Reduction. They convert into crystals, clusters, and varying types of aethersand. The type of aethersand you get upon Aetherial Reduction depends on the item you reduce. Each particular Collectable can only reduce into one kind of aethersand. As for the Crystals and Clusters acquired, they will normally be the same type as the ones already gatherable from the node.

Unlike Unspoiled Nodes and Folklore Nodes, Ephemeral Nodes do not get called out on the minimap with a direction indicator, so players will need to use   Lay of the Land or   Arbor Call to locate them. Another difference is that Ephemeral Nodes spawn in clusters of 3, and will continually respawn like normal nodes as long as it's still within the time window. Ephemeral Nodes are active for four Eorzean Time / in-game hours.

• Players can unlock Collectables by completing the level 50 quest Inscrutable Tastes.
• Players can unlock   Aetherial Reduction by completing the level 56 quest No Longer a Collectable.
• The higher the collectability of the item is, the greater are the chances of getting higher quantity of items.

Note: The   Collect ability must be active to catch any fish as a collectible. Non-collectible versions of these fish have no use whatsoever.

Note2: After the collectables changes in patch 5.4, older nodes with formerly dual-use Crafting Materials now have new collectables present, these are marked for clarity.
