A young woman of twenty summers, Gurbesu was injured in a skirmish with the Matanga and separated from her tribe, only to be later saved by the Dataq. She traveled with the tribe for a time, searching for her people, and was fortunate to find them in time to join them in time to confront the Matanga and their almighty regent, Anjana, in one of the greatest battles the Steppe had seen in recent memory.
