Walkthrough

Prior to patch 6.4, Summon Selene.png  Summon Selene was a separate action for Scholar frame icon.png Scholar. Selene hadn't had unique functionality since Stormblood released, and so she was converted into a glamour.

Steps

  • Wait at the designated location.
  • Speak with Thubyrgeim.

Journal

  • Thubyrgeim requires your help to put her theories to the proof.
  • Having heard of your research on the subject of scholars, and your newfound ability to summon a faerie familiar, Thubyrgeim hopes you might humor her with testing a theory. To that end she invites you downstairs to the guild's practice area.
  • Following Thubyrgeim's instructions, after a brief moment of concentration, you call forth your faerie familiar, but she has taken the form of a Topaz Carbuncle. Satisfied to see her theory proven, Thubyrgeim invites you back upstairs.
  • Thubyrgeim thanks you for the demonstration, encouraging you to make use of what you have learned.

Dialogue

Accepting the Quest

Thubyrgeim: [Forename], how fortuitous. Might you spare a moment?
Thubyrgeim: I recently received word that you've been researching the scholars of Nym at the behest of a Marauders' Guild member, is that right?
Thubyrgeim: I see... And as a result, you can now call upon a faerie to aid you. Fascinating!
Thubyrgeim: Might I trouble you to meet me downstairs in the practice area? There's something I very much wish for you to try.

At the designated location (Cutscene)

Thubyrgeim: My apologies for the wait. As for what I wish for you to attempt, it is a technique similar to what you've already employed with your egi.
Thubyrgeim: Now, would you be so kind as to call forth your faerie?
Thubyrgeim: How charming! The tales do little to capture its beauty.
Thubyrgeim: The faerie is no doubt manifested in the image of that which you most closely associate with faeries, but my research suggests this form is not immutable.
Thubyrgeim: Indeed, though a fundamental form may have been incorporated into the original incantation, with sufficient concentration, I believe it possible to supplant this form with the image of another entity. Try conjuring the faerie once more--this time, with a Carbuncle in your mind's eye.
Thubyrgeim: Remarkable! And with only a single attempt!
Thubyrgeim: 'Twould seem my theory holds, meaning this transformation should be merely superficial, and has done naught to affect its capacity for healing. Very good.
Thubyrgeim: With that, we may conclude this little experiment. If you would follow me upstairs?

Speak with Thubyrgeim

Thubyrgeim: Thank you again for your help, [Forename]. That proved to be quite the spectacle.
Thubyrgeim: I should hope you make use of what we've learned here today. I daresay your faerie's appearance may be without limit.
