Jobs
General Information
Jobs have specialized abilities aimed to perform specific roles in a group setting. Jobs are the same level as their corresponding classes and can be thought of as specialized modes of the base classes. There are 10 jobs in A Realm Reborn (2.0): Warrior, Paladin, Monk, Ninja (2.4), Dragoon, Bard, White Mage, Black Mage, Summoner and Scholar. Players can unlock jobs by leveling the respective base class to level 30, as well as completing the primary class quest at 30. Unlocking a job awards its Soul Crystal, which is required to change from the player's current class to a more specialized job. Each job has its own crystal which can be equipped via the Armoury Chest.
- Base class is the class the job links to.
- The job has all the abilities and traits of the primary class. Jobs don't gain any traits or abilities by leveling up (except for the Heavensward and Stormblood ones), though their base class continues to do so. All Job abilities are earned through job quests.
- The level of the job is the same as its corresponding class and vice versa. For example, when a level 47 gladiator equips its Paladin job stone, the gladiator will turn into a level 47 paladin. If the paladin gains 2 levels and becomes level 49, then when the player removes their paladin Soul Crystal, the paladin becomes a level 49 gladiator. This also means that the Summoner and Scholar jobs will always be at the same level, even if one of the jobs is unlocked much later.
- Jobs released in Heavensward (3.0): Dark Knight, Astrologian and Machinist, start from level 30 and do not require base classes, instead starting with a full set of abilities of their own.
- Jobs released in Stormblood (4.0): Samurai and Red Mage, start from level 50 and do not require base classes similar to the Heavensward jobs.
