Nabaath Areng

Nabaath Areng

An oasis of desert commerce, the Nabaath Empire's capital built its wealth on the trade of local minerals, both precious and mundane. The civilization now lies broken, the gargantuan wave of frozen Light yet looming in its midst. Flakes of crystallized radiance have fallen away from the main mass, each smaller shard a source of glittering peril.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 113

Nabaath Areng is an area in Amh Araeng, Norvrandt. It is situated in approximately the same place as Ul'dah on the Source.

Landmarks

Landmark (map icon).png
The Pristine Palace of Amh Malik

In the common tongue, "amh malik" translates to "majestic king," and it was within this royal residence that was housed the core of Nabaath Areng's political and military might. When the Flood came, however, it was halted moments too late—half the palace toppled before a titanic wave of Light like a sandcastle caught by the tide.

Landmark (map icon).png
The Derrick

This basic wooden outpost was erected to keep watch for winged sin eaters flying into the desert from the Empty. Guard rosters are presently managed by the Inn at Journey's Head.

Landmark (map icon).png
Lift Station

Scavengers built this pulley-and-rope mechanism to facilitate the recovery of precious artifacts from the ruins of Nabaath Areng. As the city has since been picked clean of treasures, however, the winch's condition has deteriorated from disuse.

Landmark (map icon).png
The Empty

The Empty is a region devastated by the Flood of Light. It covers approximately nine-tenths of the world and is where Eden resides.

Landmark (map icon).png
The Nabaath Severance

This sheer drop was formed in the wake of the Flood. The name is both literal and metaphorical, representative of the physical changes to the landscape as well as the abrupt end which befell the Nabaath Empire.
