Pre-Requisite

Before begin to create your Novus Zodiac Weapons, you must have completed your Animus Zodiac Weapon. Through the course of the quest you will need:

• 3 Superior Enchanted Ink or at least 750 Allagan Tomestone of Soldiery.
• Access to the Expert Duty Roulette.
• The Decipher and Dig skills from Treasure Hunting.

This can be obtained from the quest Treasures and Tribulations from H'loonh in Wineport, Eastern La Noscea (x21, y21).

• Possession of, or substantial Gil for, a large amount of materia.

Main Weapon Quest

Celestial Radiance

Starting NPC:	Jalzahn
Starting Location:	Hyrstmill, North Shroud (x30,y19)
Speak with Jalzahn in Hyrstmill (x30,y19) with your Animus Zodiac Weapon equipped. He will explain that it may be possible for your weapon to become stronger with materia but that conventional melding will not work due to the preclusive presence of soul energy. Travel to Mutamix Bubblypots in The Bonfire (x23,y13). Speak with Mutamix Bubblypots's new disciple Hubairtin in The Bonfire (x23,y13). His new technique involves converting the power of materia into a form of light energy. But for Hubairtin to apply the technique he needs some Superior Enchanted Ink. Travel to Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona and buy from Rowena (x22,y6) three bottles of Superior Enchanted Ink for 250 Allagan Tomestone of Soldiery each ( 750 Allagan Tomestone of Soldiery in total). Return to Hubairtin and hand over the bottles of Superior Enchanted Ink and he will create a Sphere Scroll for your Animus Zodiac Weapon - which will serve as the blueprint for your Novus Zodiac Weapon.

Star Light, Star Bright

Jalzahn will then explain the task of building your Novus Zodiac Weapon using your Sphere Scroll. Unlike all other weapon or equipment in Eorzea you have the freedom to customs the secondary stats of your Novus Zodiac Weapon as you like. You need to successfully bind a total of 75 materia to complete your Sphere Scroll in order to create your weapon. Each materia requires a special reagent called Alexandrite. After speaking to Jalzahn, the quest will move to your "completed quest log". Once you have completed your scroll, return to Jalzahn who will finalise and create your new Novus Zodiac Weapon. Materia The materia you bind directly affects the stat that is increased: Stat Materia Accuracy Heaven's Eye Materia Skill Speed Quickarm Materia Critical Hit Rate Savage Aim Materia Piety Piety Materia Determination Savage Might Materia Spell Speed Quicktongue Materia Parry Battledance Materia Notes: Each successful meld infuses the stat of materia into the scroll, granting the it 1 point in the corresponding stat. At the start only level 1 materias are needed. As more of a particular stats / materia are added: the binding success rate decrease until you are forced to use a higher grade / level materia. Unsuccessful bindings will destroy the materia used but never the Alexandrite. There is a cap on the maximum points you can put in a secondary stat and depends on your class. If you put 22 points or more into a secondary stat, it will gain an additional +1 point when the weapon is finalised. Your Novus Zodiac Weapon will only have the secondary stats that you put onto it - no secondary stats are transferred across from your Animus Zodiac Weapon. The only exception to this are with the healer's weapons Omnilex Novus and Thyrus Novus which get +9 Accuracy regardless. Alexandrite Alexandrite is a special reagent used to convert and bind the materia to the Sphere Scroll. They can be gathered in two ways: Completing FATEs with a Animus Zodiac Weapon equipped (as before). From treasure chests from Mysterious Maps. Mysterious Maps can be obtained through: The daily quest Morbid Motivation which requires you to complete an expert duty roulette. Can be brought from Auriana in Revenant's Toll for 400 Allagan Tomestone of Soldiery. Mysterious Maps are similar to normal Timeworn Maps and requires the use of Decipher and Dig skills from Treasure Hunting. These can be obtained from the quest Treasures and Tribulations from H'loonh in Wineport, Eastern La Noscea (x21, y21). You will need to decipher the map, and travel to the location shown in the map before diging to find a treasure chest. Upon opening a treasure chest, the mysterious map will be destroyed and monsters will spawn. You will need to kill all the monsters before you can open the chest. Mysterious Map Monster Spawns Monster Notes Morbol Menace x1 This fight is dangerous and a party might be necessary. Vine Probe is an instant attack which will immobilize you for up to 30 seconds, causing you to unable to dodge its Bad Breath attack which always immediately follows it. White Mage and Scholar can Esuna and Leeches the bind. Dragoon and Bard can use Elusive Jump and Repelling Shot to clear the bind. Bad Breath is a frontal cone shaped AoE that applies a dozen debuff to all players hit. Tanks can stun the boss when it is casting Bad Breath. Player can position her Chocobo Companion tank in front of the boss then stand behind it. Dire Gargoyles x4 Desolate is a frontal line attack that deals heavy damage. Grim Fate is a frontal AoE cone attack that deals heavy damage. Gargoyles do not perform auto-attacks. Simply dodge their AoE and focus them down 1 by 1. Woad Back x1 Gold Back x1 Wine Back x1 Each of the 3 monsters has a different instant cast AoE status effect: Woad Back can petrify the player. Wind Back can poison the player. Gold Back can paralyze the player. Players should kill Woad Back quickly to avoid being paralyzed. Next the player should kill Gold Back, followed by Wind Back. Kill Order: Woad Back, Gold Back, Wind Back. Alpha Golem Dodge the AoE attacks of Golem. Mythril Golem Will spawn 8 Bombs adds periodically which should be killed as quickly as possible by AoE. Monocular Cyclops x1 His 100 Tonze Swing is an AoE attack on surrounding the boss. Ranged should stay further away from the boss and melee be prepared to run out. Will spawn 8 Puk adds periodically which are quite weak and can be quickly killed by AoE. Bombast x1 When the Bomb expends, move away to avoid the explosion. When the Bomb is normal-sized, return to attack it. Generally happens 3 times during the fight. Gelid Eye x1 Notes: Players can complete the map with the help of a party but only the owner of the map will receive the Alexandrite. Rest of the party members will get some gil. You do not need to equip your Animus Zodiac Weapon whilst completing Mysterious Maps. Bystanders that are not in your party cannot attack the monsters - but healers are still able to heal you. A Chocobo Companion can be used to make the battle easier.
