The Age of Calm is a period of uneasy peace in Eorzea following the Battle of Silvertear Skies and the failure of Project Meteor. The Empire made a full retreat from Eorzean soil, building Baelsar's Wall to further fortify the border between Gridania and Gyr Abania. In this time, The Eorzean Alliance collapses, with Ishgard pulling out, citing the resumed invasion of Nidhogg and being unable to spare any extra men. While no attacks come from the Empire, the expectation that they could resume their campaign at any time kept the population on edge. This period of time extends from the year 1562 until 1572, leading to the events that caused the Seventh Umbral Calamity.
