Introduction

“

In an age long past, when mankind flourished under the radiance of arcane mastery, the island of Vylbrand was home to a city-state called Nym. Though the history of that age tells of countless wars waged with earth-shattering incantations, it was the brilliant strategic maneuvering of Nym's scholars that allowed their mundane army of mariners to throw back would-be conquerers time and again. These learned men and women defended the freedom of their tiny nation with their unique command over spell-weaving faeries, utilizing the creatures' magicks to heal the wounded and bolster the strength of their allies.

Scholars manifest their spells through earth and air, but their unique maneuver and experise allow them to conjure forth faeries to help in battle. Only the scholars may command their conjured faerie to cast healing abilities and restore their fellows in battle.

General information

Guild

The Scholar's advancement is through an NPC in the Marauder's Guild, located in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (x11, y6). Arcanists may specialize into scholar once they reach level 30, and complete the quests Sylph-management and Sinking Doesmaga.

Note: It's required to be an arcanist to receive the follow-up quest and unlock scholar, this means any Soul Crystal equipped must be unequipped.

Equipment

The scholar is a disciple of magic and wears cloth armor. They use books as weapons. The following crafting classes can create items that are useful to the scholar:

Alchemist — Books.
Weaver — Cloth armor.
Goldsmith — Earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings.

Aetherflow & Faerie Gauge is Scholar's Job Gauge.

Aetherflow Gauge

Upon learning the action Aetherflow, the Aetherflow Gauge will be displayed, indicating stacks of Aetherflow.

Aetherflow can be used to execute certain actions such as Lustrate (acquired at level 45) and Excogitation (acquired at level 62).

Simple Mode

Faerie Gauge

Upon learning the action Aetherpact, you'll be able to view the Faerie Gauge, which displays the amount of fae aether.

Fae aether is accumulated when you use Aetherflow to execute certain actions such as Lustrate or Excogitation during battle while a faerie is summoned. Accumulated fae aether can then be used to perform Aetherpact.

Upon learning the action Summon Seraph, you can temporarily call Seraph to fight alongside you in place of Eos. The Faerie Gauge will indicate how much time remains before she must return.
