General Q&A

The Template:Classes for Classes and Jobs links to Category:Classes when it should link to Category:Classes and Jobs. Seeing as you have quite a few edits over the past few days, who should be contacted about correcting the templates? Tnargraef (talk) 00:16, 1 September 2013 (CDT)

I moved most of the templates into a Template Category rather than Navigation. I did make Templates a sub category of navigation. I touched up Grand Company with some information from the old lodestone, but as far as i know most of the basic information they had for them hasn't changed. Template:Item is in working order for use. I've noticed as I'm going through the images there are quite a few duplicates for the hunting log items. Would it be appropriate to fix the duplicates to reference only one image and then have the others deleted at a later date? That aside still making progress with the picture categorization. I moved on the sunken temple to the top of the page as a quote. I think it looks a bit nicer up there and doesn't add an extra header. What do you think?

As a side question as I go through each class page to organize the Icons and add categories, the abilities and traits have their own pages. Would it be prudent to get a brief version of the abilities on class page since we have pages devoted to the list of abilities? Templates?

Hi and thanks for the welcome. Is there a quest template yet? That's one thing I'd like to help contribute to, but should probably be kept as uniform as possible. If not, are there plans to make one? Also, just a thought - races are important, but I'm not sure they need a "place of honor" on the sidebar. I would think a quest drop down with leves, story quest, and class quests might be helpful to add there for quick reference.SereneEris (talk) 03:51, 12 September 2013 (CDT)

Thanks for the information on the quest template. How about a field that marks something as a levequest? Or are there plans to make a levequest template that is separate?

proper title for fish pages

Before I get too far into this I'd like to know what you think. I'd like to link each fish to their own page with its own useful data example:Merlthor Goby

I don't want to set the standard for viewing the fish as an item or rather in context of item synthesis. Is there a better layout you might like that can also include data relevant to a fisher? MnemosyneSargantas (talk)

Recipe Pages

Hi, I'm working on adding recipe tables based on what you have up on the "Blacksmith Recipes" page. I'm new to editing wiki's, but I'm a good data miner. Currently working on getting the list for Alchemist together in the same fashion. ~Morvelaira

Armour Infobox

Eugh, I've got a basic armour infobox set up but the layout of it is annoying me and I can't see to get it right. Don't suppose you could take a look at it? I'm planning on acquisition being a section in the main page but I'm not sure whether to include the repair information in the infobox or out of it. I'm not a huge fan of infobox-heavy pages. To-Do List

I noticed there are quit a few blank spots that need user contributions, such as npcs, locations, items, and quests. I also had significant trouble trying to find a way to be helpful towards these issues because there seems to be no consolidated list for what needs done. As such, I felt that a page designating what needs done would greatly benefit the community here, allowing users to pop over to that page and look for something that needs help that they are particularly interested in or knowledgeable about. I created the To-Do List to serve as such a page. You seemed to be one of the big contributors, so I was thinking that perhaps you would be able to place a link to this page on the main page, or in the Help page, just to bring this page to others attentions.

Materials list

I got a question about the materials section (miner,botanist) Should I split the lists between Mining and Quarrying and Logging and harvesting? Or just the lvls with the materials from both Mining/Quarrying in the miner section and Logging/Harvesting in the Botanist section.

Thanks for the welcome. I've done a lot of wiki editing in the past so I'm very familiar with the language and coding. I'm glad you like the changes. As for my User:Nekonova/A Relic Reborn page, I would prefer if you didn't copy it across to the live version yet. I've copied across User:Nekonova/Relic Weapon, User:Nekonova/A Relic Reborn and User:Nekonova/Zenith Relic Weapon to their corresponding pages: Relic Weapons, Relic Weapons/Quest and Zenith Relic Weapons/Quest. I think I've fixed most of the bugs / errors that may have happened when I copied it across - and fixed any double redirects. Let me know if you find anymore. I edited the classes section one more time.. thought your content and my content would look better combined into a chart that was more like the jobs chart. It works better "at a glance" like that.

I also went back and edited the Jobs chart to include the role.

I'm very rusty at all this... I haven't edited a wiki since pre-Vanguard Saga of Heroes release... since then I usually depend upon the official websites.. however your wiki was far more comprehensive.

I'm a Newb to FFXIV as in like last week... which is why I have been editing this stuff as I encounter an issue where I don't have enough data or I think it's just not in the ideal format I have been trying to fix it so other newbs have an easier time as this game is fairly complex.

My wife and I started the same day and it was a hassle to figure out how to make 2 classes that started in the same city that would then both be useful in building our "job" which is why I did the starting city break down

I was also confused by class names such as conjurer... in other games that is more like the summoner in this game... not a healer AT ALL... which is why I moved the roles up to the chart area.

My edits may be over at this point. I hope someone else sees it as added value and not "ugg that chart is too big"

I like your modifications on top of mine even more.. good job.

Heavensward Fishing Locations

I've completed all fish in all locations. In Dravanian Forelands however there were 2 "West Mourns" i've since corrected one with the location and fish of "Halo"

Convertibility

Hi there,

I had a question about item convertibility. I was looking around in the wiki but could not find the answer.

Items show if an item is able to convert in material. Some items can't be converted but are usually projectable.

Convertible: No, Projectable: Yes

My question now is what does projectable mean? I was thinking maybe the item can be projected on other gear to look like it, but if so. How do you do that.

Sources

I'm relatively new to wiki work, and I wanted to check - what are our guidelines regarding sources? For example, Garland Tools has some great information (GC quartermaster inventory, airship expedition rewards, etc) that are all datamined, and aren't in Libra Eorzea or other SE products. Are those useable as sources? With attribution, perhaps? What sources are openly permissible? Skald359 (talk) 15:54, 2 December 2015 (PST)

Wiki Bot

Do you guys have a wikibot on the site? If so, you should send it through the CGW Wiki's Broken File Links Category page and have it do a blank/null edit on most everything in there. That category gets updated every time a page is created that is missing an image (like an icon), but if the picture is uploaded after then it doesn't get removed from that category until the item's page is edited again. I went through and did some blank edits on about 50 items, and uploaded a couple icons I noticed you guys were missing, but there's over 2400 pages in there.. 90%+ of those could be removed with a simple null edit. If you guys don't have a bot to do that.. then maybe you could open a bunch of tabs up like I did and use keyboard shortcuts to edit, then submit a blank edit to remove them from that category :) That category is extremely handy for actually finding out if you're missing images! If people make the page first (via submit, rather than preview) and then upload the image, then that would explain why there are so many pages in there... Triple Triad

Hello talk!

Thank you very much for the welcome, and, if it hasn't been noticed already, I have been working on adding/filling in a bunch of the Triple Triad information. The only difficulty is learning how to format Wikis correctly. However, it has been enjoyable finding things that are not included in the current Triple Triad Cards pages and being able to add them to the Wiki!

I hope this is okay with yourself, and with the contributors to the Wiki! Thank you for being part of such helpful and useful information, and I hope I could become apart of it.
