Though its name may conjure images of the briny deep, this region of the moon is awash with naught but arid basalt. It is far from devoid of interest, however, as Hydaelyn's purpose can be seen manifested in the artificial structures that dot its surface

Trivia

Mare Lamentorum is Latin for Sea of Lamentations. The "Mare" in the name is based on the lunar maria (basaltic plains) on the Earth's Moon.

A full rotation of Etheirys, matching the length of an in-game day, can be observed over the course of 1 hour and 10 minutes (Earth time). Additionally, the phases of Etheirys and its moon oppose each other just as in real life - a full moon from Etheirys can be observed as a "new Etheirys" from Mare Lamentorium.
