— In-game description

Mysterious Map can be used to obtain Alexandrite, the catalyst needed to upgrade Animus Zodiac Weapons into Novus Zodiac Weapons. Players will gain 5 Alexandrite for each mysterious map completed. Players will lose the mysterious map if he or she fails the task.

Acquisition

Players can obtain the mysterious maps in 2 ways:

• The daily quest Morbid Motivation which requires you to complete a 50/60/70 duty roulette and resets everyday.
• Can be brought from Auriana in Revenant's Toll for 75 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics.

Completing Mysterious Map

Solving Mysterious Map is similar to solving Treasure Hunt map. Before uncovering the treasure chest, the player will need to use Decipher and Dig then defeat a group of enemies.

• Players can complete the map with the help of a party but only the owner of the map will receive the Alexandrite. Rest of the party members will get some gil.
• Chocobo Companion can be used to make the battle easier.

Monster	Notes
Morbol Menace x1	This fight is dangerous and a party might be necessary. Vine Probe is an instant attack which will immobilize you for up to 30 seconds, causing you to unable to dodge its Bad Breath attack which always immediately follows it. White Mages and Scholars can Esuna and Leeches the bind. Dragoons, Paladins, and Bards can use Elusive Jump, Tempered Will, and Repelling Shot to clear the bind. Bad Breath is a frontal cone shaped AoE that applies a dozen debuff to all players hit. Warriors and Paladins can stun the boss when it is casting Bad Breath. Black Mages can Swiftcast+Sleep to prevent Bad Breath. Player can position her Chocobo Companion tank in front of the boss then stand behind it.
Dire Gargoyles x4	Desolate is a frontal line attack that deals heavy damage. Grim Fate is a frontal AoE cone attack that deals heavy damage. Gargoyles do not perform auto-attacks. Simply dodge their AoE and focus them down 1 by 1.
Woad Back x1 Gold Back x1 Wine Back x1	Each of the 3 monsters has a different instant cast AoE status effect: Woad Back can petrify the player. Wind Back can poison the player. Gold Back can paralyze the player. Players should kill Woad Back quickly to avoid being paralyzed. Next the player should kill Gold Back, followed by Wind Back. Kill Order: Woad Back, Gold Back, Wind Back.
Mythril Golem	Rockslide is a frontal line attack that deals heavy damage. Boulder Clap is a frontal AoE cone attack that deals heavy damage. Will spawn 8 Fox Fire bomb adds periodically which should be killed as quickly as possible by AoE.
Monocular Cyclops x1	His 100 Tonze Swing is an AoE attack on surrounding the boss. Ranged should stay further away from the boss and melee be prepared to run out. Will spawn 8 Puk adds periodically which are quite weak and can be quickly killed by AoE.
Virago x1 Concubinus x2	The succubus will use Sweet Steel (a frontal cone AOE) repeatedly between normal attacks. The concubinus seem to only use auto-attack on you. Kill the concubinus first then the succubus.
Bombast x1	When the Bomb expends, move away to avoid the explosion. When the Bomb is normal-sized, return to attack it. Generally happens 3 times during the fight.
Gelid Eye x1	Side-step its AoE to avoid petrification.
