“A secret society devoted to serving the realm, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn gave sage counsel to the leaders of Eorzea through unofficial channels. After their desperate struggle against the XIVth Imperial Legion they stepped out from the shadows, and continued to work for the betterment of Eorzea
— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume 1
The Scions of the Seventh Dawn are a group formed in the aftermath of the Calamity by the remaining members of The Circle of Knowing and The Path of the Twelve, in accordance to Louisoix's will. Originally a secret society, the Scions went public after a series of events involving the XIVth Imperial Legion. They work to protect Eorzea and her peoples, by keeping the primal threat at bay and fighting back against the Garlean Empire.
Their first headquarters was The Waking Sands, located in Vesper Bay, though they moved to The Rising Stones, located in Mor Dhona shortly after they stepped out of the shadows.
History
As Dalamud was set to collide with Eorzea in what became the first Calamity, Louisoix Leveilleur, leader of The Circle of Knowing and at the time the commander of the army fielded by the Eorzean Alliance resolved to invoke the power of The Twelve to save the realm. In order to do so without causing all of Eorzea to fall under the deities' influence, he knew the summoner had to sacrifice themselves and resigned himself to that fate. He kept this information from his Archons, fearing they wouldn't go along with it.
Louisoix knew there would be a need for a leader after he was gone though and started planning accordingly. He came to the Waking Sands, which was home to the Path of the Twelve at the time, an organization that had been allied themselves to the Circle in several endeavours over the years, and told everything to their head, Minfilia. He entrusted the Circle's future to her, having seen great potential in her.
In the aftermath of the Battle of Carteneau, the two organizations indeed merged to form the Scions of the Seventh Dawn under Minfilia's leadership.
