The House of Ul, of which the current Sultana belongs to, has been the ruling administration of Ul'dah within two distinct spans of the Sixth Astral Era, for a combined reign of over 480 years.[1]
Its first dynasty began in the year 969, emerging from the division of Belah'dia, with Sasagan Ul Sisigan as its first Sultan. The dynasty would oversee Ul'dah's many years of bitter rivalry with its sister city of Sil'dih, finally emerging victorious in 1181, before coming to a close in 1224 with the deposition of Sasagan Ul Sisigan III, 255 years after the dynasty's founding. By the abdication of House Thorne in 1344, the House of Ul would be restored to the Ul'dahn throne, marking the beginning of its "second", currently continuing, dynasty.
Known Dynasty Members
Sasagan Ul Sisigan
Twin brother to Sasawefu Ul Sisigan, founder of the short-lived city of Sil'dih. Sasagan was Ul'dah's first Sultan at it's founding in 969. He is also credited with the founding of the Sultansworn during that same year, and for commissioning multiple holy blades to mark the occasion.
Sasagan Ul Sisigan III
Last Sultan of the "first" Ul Dynasty, imprisoned and usurped by House Thorne in 1224.
Sasabal Ul Sisibal
Reigned as Sultan until he and his wife Nanasha Ul Nasha abruptly perished in an accident in 1561.[2]
Nanamo Ul Namo
The current Sultana of Ul'dah, seventeenth in the line of Ul, who succeeded her father in 1561, at the age of five.
Lore
The Ul line is descended from Sasagan Ul Sisigan, the first of his name and founder of Ul'dah. Since their right to rule was restored by the Thorne family, the second Ul Dynasty has reigned uninterrupted. At present, Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo—the only daughter of Sasabal Ul Sisibal and Nanasha Ul Nasha—wears the crown. The seventeenth in her line, she ascended the throne following the unfortunate death of her parents. However, the sultana wields precious little power next to the might of the Syndicate. [3]
