The Order of the Twin Adder establishes a medium from which the Seedseers can return from their wanderings deep within the Black Shroud and directly oversee not only the safety of Gridania's citizens, but the workings of the local guard, Both the Gods' Quiver, who defend the forest from external threats, and the Wood Wailers, who protect it from internal strife, have expressed their support of this temporary measure. Tasked with defending the forest from within and without respectively, Gridania’s Wood Wailers and Gods' Quiver have grown adept at chasing foes through the trees and warding off Ixali war balloons. However, both forces are ill-prepared to venture too far outside the Black Shroud. By means of recruiting well-traveled adventurers, the Yellow Serpents exist precisely to overcome this foible. In its early days, Serpent Commander Quinquerol Flutaint, an adventurer himself, led the unit until the Battle of Carteneau. Unfortunately, he could never recover from the horrors he had seen, and was discharged from duty. Thereafter, Vorsaile Heuloix climbed from the rank of Second Serpent Commander to take the reins as High Commander.

The Order of the Twin Adder establishes a medium from which the Seedseers can return from their wanderings deep within the Black Shroud and directly oversee not only the safety of Gridania's citizens, but the workings of the local guard, Both the Gods' Quiver, who defend the forest from external threats, and the Wood Wailers, who protect it from internal strife, have expressed their support of this temporary measure. There are, however, those within Gridania who would question the ability of the Seedseers, whose duties until now have been limited to various ritualistic proceedings, and doubt whether or not they are fit to lead a nation into war.
