A region of the First, one of thirteen reflections of the world of Hydaelyn that was created when the goddess Hydaelyn banished the dark god Zodiark

— In-game description

Norvrandt is a region in The First. It is the equivalent of the realm of Eorzea and the primary setting of the Shadowbringers expansion.

Zones

The Crystarium

Main article: The Crystarium

Oft described as mankind's final bastion, this city was built with the Crystal Tower at its heart. The glimmering spire abruptly appeared following the advent of the Flood of Light, acting as a beacon for those driven from their homes by the savage sin eaters. Refugees settled at its base, eventually replacing crude shelters with halls of stone and metal, and a once disparate mob of survivors grew into a resilient, self-reliant community.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 24

Lakeland

Main article: Lakeland

This geographical equivalent to Mor Dhona is known for the largest lake in Norvrandt, a body of water confusingly named the "Source." Lakeland has long been considered the sacred homeland of the elves, but the multitude of refugees fleeing the Flood of Light gave rise to its presently diverse population. Traditionalists among the elves, however, have not been welcoming of Lakeland's newer residents.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 24

Kholusia

Main article: Kholusia

This island is a twin to the Source's Vylbrand, insofar as it occupies a similar location and boasts an active volcano at its center. Without the influence of the Sixth Umbral Era's great deluge, however, its coastline remains relatively gentle, and dwarven—rather than kobold—control of the mountains speaks to the progression of a very different history.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

Eulmore

Main article: Eulmore

The placement of Kholusia's ruling city mirroring that of Limsa Lominsa is likely no coincidence; the shared tendency to build atop aetherial confluences suggests that mankind is drawn to such sites. A common destination for refugees, Eulmore matches the Crystarium in terms of political and military significance.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

Amh Araeng

Main article: Amh Araeng

Situated in what would be the region of Thanalan, Amh Araeng is a similar expanse of arid wilderness. The prevailing theory states that Thanalan's deserts were born of the Third Umbral Calamity's fiery touch, but such a catastrophe was unheard of in the First. Perhaps this wasteland was the result of some other environmental disaster, one caused by excessive logging or failed farming initiatives.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

Nabaath Areng

This nation once ruled over Amh Araeng, the Nabaath royal family governing an empire which, much like Ul'dah, had grown prosperous through mining and trade. The empire fell into ruin, however, when much of its territory was engulfed in the Flood of Light. The few survivors fled the desert, their descendants taking root in far-off Lakeland or Kholusia.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

Il Mheg

Main article: Il Mheg

While the elemental instability caused by the Seventh Umbral Calamity plunged Coerthas into bitter cold, the region's equivalent in the First has remained temperate in climate. Il Mheg is the domain of the fae, whose predilection for floral adornment has transformed their kingdom into a wonderland of color and beauty—but woe betide the unsuspecting mortal who strays uninvited into this enchanted realm.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

The Kingdom of Voeburt

This nation was born of an alliance between the Drahn and the Galdjent, and their formidable knights once rode unopposed through the lands of Il Mheg. Unlike Nabaath Areng, Voeburt was spared inundation by the Flood of Light, but the unending waves of sin eaters eroded its defenses, eventually driving the people to abandon the kingdom.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

The Rak'tika Greatwood

Main article: The Rak'tika Greatwood

The geographical counterpart to the Black Shroud, the Greatwood is also characterized by a profusion of arboreal nature. But where the vegetation of the Source has been razed and regrown several times over the course of the Source's calamities, this ancient forest has remained unchanged, with many of its trees growing unhindered for thousands of years.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

The Tempest

Main article: The Tempest

The First's incarnation of the Indigo Deep, these tumultuous seas are home to a Sahagin-like race known as the Ondo. Before the Flood of Light, the open ocean beyond was said to churn beneath frequent and fierce storms, but that watery expanse now lies calm, its incandescent depths leeched of all vitality.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

The Empty

Main article: The Empty

Inaccessible Areas

The Divide

This body of water separates Kholusia from the mainland, the unpredictable tides reminiscent of the Strait of Merithor, its counterpart in the Source. Perilous for smaller vessels, few will risk a crossing without a sturdy ship and an experienced helmsman.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 25

Lore

An Island in the Flood

The First, too, has undergone extreme changes as a result of Ascian scheming. Barring the region of Norvrandt (the geographical equivalent of Eorzea in the Source), this world was swallowed by a Flood of Light which left entire continents submerged in a blinding elemental stasis. This expanse is known simply as the Empty—a barren wasteland where life stagnates and aether slows to a standstill.

— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 24
