Description
“A merchant visiting from beyond the steppes claimed he was attacked by a monster from the sky.
At first we thought he spoke of a Yol or a Muu Shuwuu, but the trader insisted that it was neither of these. “A giant winged lizard,” he said, in the face of much laughter.
And yet his was not the last sighting of this fantastic beast. Forced to accept the truth of its existence, we call it by the word the merchant taught us in his native tongue: Aswang.— Jaliqai of Reunion
Popular Culture
On many servers, Aswang has been recognized as the de-facto "God of Hunts." Hunters believe Aswang brings good luck and will often remark "Praise Aswang" after receiving and killing an S Rank Hunt. It is believed to be bad luck to kill Aswang as a part of a player's weekly B rank assignment and many hunters will instead choose to forgo the assignment that week.
On the Lamia World, Aswang has become synonymous with a group of "hunters" that are against users of modified client side 3rd party applications that will locate and provide coordinates to the spawn locations of both A and S ranks. Considered social outcasts in game by other more respectable hunters, Aswang could be considered as having "fallen from grace."
