Nalbina Fortress was the final stand of the kingdom of Dalmasca in the invasion of the Garlean Empire. When the Garlean forces invaded, the Dalmascans refused to swear fealty, and engaged them in combat. Over the time of the battle, over seventy thousand Dalmascan soldiers were slain. Falling back to Nalbina Fortress, the Dalmascans were able to hold out for over six months. During this time, the princess of Dalmasca Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca attempted to flee with Ba'Gamnan, as the king believed that though Nalbina Fortress was holding strong - it would not forever, and the people needed a member of the royal family to act as a beacon for them. However, it was believed that she was killed in her escape. Hearing that both of his children had been claimed by the war, the king lost the will to lead, and surrendered to Garlemald soon after.
